Omayra Ortiz, MD is Board Certified in both General Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry who specializes in treating adults and geriatric patients. She provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and treatment for all disorders including older adults suffering with dementia and Parkinson’s Disease with related behavioral disturbances. She also has special interest in the mental health needs of Spanish speaking populations. Dr. Ortiz graduated from Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico with a medical degree and attended the Cabrini Medical Center/Mount Sinai School of Medicine psychiatry residency training program. She completed a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Westchester Division Dr. Ortiz participated in research in late-life depression during her fellowship.
Prior to joining Advanced Psychiatric Associates, Dr. Ortiz was Attending Psychiatrist at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center, Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, and Jersey City Medical Center where she was involved in the teaching and training of medical students, psychiatric residents, and fellows.
Dr. Ortiz is a member of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. She is bilingual and provides services in English and Spanish.
