Edgar Lopez, MD holds a Medical Degree from the University of Medical Sciences of Sancti Spiritus, Cuba. He also holds a Master’s Degree in “Pharmacology, Development, Evaluation and Rational Use of Medications” from The University of Basque Country, Spain, where he obtained a merit scholarship.
After earning his Master’s Degree, Dr. Lopez completed a four-year Psychiatry Residency at Saint Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York, where he served as Chief Psychiatry Resident during the fourth year.
Dr. Lopez is a board certified psychiatrist with a wholistic approach to mental health. He specializes in the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia. He is acquainted with the use of remote interviewing and the facilitation of a seamless experience.
Dr. Lopez will prescribe psychotropic medications, when necessary, tailored to the specific patient requirements and comorbidities. He will address the psychosocial aspects of mental illness with a cognitive-behavioral approach and supportive therapy. He will empower the patient on his/her own healing process, emphasizing brain healthy nutrition, exercise and meditation.
Dr. Lopez is fluent in both English and Spanish. His greatest passion is helping those who are in need the most. His interests are diverse and include history and literature among others. He enjoys and promotes activities that build on improving human wellbeing, including socializing, practicing sports, etc.
