Jose Bejarano, MD

Jose Bejarano, MD is a board-certified bilingual psychiatrist in English and Spanish. Dr. Bejarano studied medicine at the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador. After moving to the United States, he completed training in general psychiatry at the New York Medical College – Richmond University Medical Center Chapter in Staten Island, NY. He served as Chief Resident and as a member of the house staff, and was awarded the Danny DeVitto recognition for best senior resident by his teachers and colleagues.

Dr. Bejarano went on to complete a Public Psychiatry Fellowship at Yale University where he participated in state programs and worked with underserved populations. He also collaborated with the General Consulate of Ecuador in New Haven to help with mental health promotion and education in the community.

Prior to joining Advanced Psychiatric Associates, Dr. Bejarano was an attending psychiatrist at the Cornell Scott–Hill Health Center in New Haven and at the intensive outpatient program of St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT. He held appointments on the voluntary faculty at Yale University School of Medicine and at Quinnipiac University School of Medicine where he was a psychiatry instructor for medical students.

Dr. Bejarano joined Advanced Psychiatric Associates in 2019. He has expertise treating anxiety, mood disorders, psychosis, trauma-related disorders, and personality disorders. He enjoys working with adult and elderly populations with an emphasis on cultural competence and sensitivity.
